Counselor, Art Therapist, Supervisor

Background

Since 1985, I have worked as a therapist and clinical supervisor in a wide variety of settings including private practice, psychiatric hospitals, rehabilitation and long-term care facilities, schools and community mental health centers. Other professional work includes over 20 years of experience as a professor of graduate art therapy counseling studies, numerous art therapy publications and lectures, and serving as editorial reviewer for Art Therapy: Journal of the American Art Therapy Association.

My experience as an artist, and the desire to integrate creativity and psychology into my work as a therapist, led me to obtain both a bachelor's degree in fine art and a graduate degree in Expressive Therapies. My training in art therapy, expressive therapies and counseling includes a blend of humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, psychoanalytically oriented and attachment based theoretical influences. I have been practicing for over 30 years.
